What Happens Next?

Once you have submitted your on-line application we will process the application and be in touch with you via email on either 16th or 17th August 2021.

All communications will be via the email address you provide on your application. Please ensure you type it in correctly.

Applicants not attending St Anthony’s or St Aidan’s must send a photograph of their results sheets to enquiries@st-anthonys-academy.com labelled SIXTH FORM APPLICATION – MMC before their application can be processed.

Once your application is received you will receive one of 2 possible communications:

  1. We will contact you to confirm your place and chosen subjects in sixth form
  2. We will ask you to attend a meeting with one of the sixth form team to discuss your application

Option 1 students will not need to do anything else over the summer. They can just attend Sixth Form on the first day of term Tuesday 7th September 2021.  Details of times and places will be included in the letter confirming a place in sixth form.

Option 2 students will usually be those students who have opted for a subject or subjects for which they do not have the entry requirements. The face to face appointment will be an opportunity to discuss other courses that they can study in place of their original choices. The dates of the face to face appointments are Wednesday 18th August 2021 and Thursday 19th August 2021.

Please try to ensure you are available on these dates as there will be no more appointments after these until the week beginning Monday 6th September 2021. Students will not be allowed to start sixth form until the face to face has occurred and a choice of subjects has been agreed.

Should students need to meet face to face with staff to discuss their application, it will be done strictly by pre-booked appointment only, so social distancing and safeguarding procedures will be in place if required.

If you do not receive a communication within 7 days of your application please contact the sixth form directly.

What if I change my mind?

If you change your mind about your subject choices please do not make a second application.

You will get the opportunity to speak to your personal tutor on the first day in September to discuss changes to your subject choices and make arrangements.

Sixth Form Uniform

Please visit our uniform section of the website for more details on what to wear in sixth form.

www.aaasixthform.com/uniform

Please note uniform should not be ordered until you have formally been offered a place in sixth form, in writing, following your application in August. We are not able to provide refunds for uniform ordered without a place being offered or if a student chooses to leave sixth form once they have started. Uniform is sold by a company independent of the sixth form.

If your uniform has not arrived by the start of term we ask you to arrive first day wearing either a navy skirt and white blouse or black trousers and white shirt.

Sixth Form ties will be available to purchase on the first day from the sixth form office.

Telephoning Sixth Form over Summer

If you need to telephone the Sixth Form during the school holiday please call St Anthony’s on 0191 565 8904 and select Options 1 or 4

The Sixth Form Option 3 is not staffed during the school holidays so will not be answered.

Changes due to COVID-19

We will be monitoring the situation with COVID-19 over the summer and will inform applicants in the usual manner via twitter, this website and the usual communication systems should our plans for enrolment alter.

Start of Term

In the communication which offers you a place in sixth form you will be sent instructions as to what you will need to do in September at the start of term. This will involve a COVID-19 Lateral Flow Test.

We hope you will enjoy the rest of your summer break and we look forward to seeing you on GCSE results day.
