Four in five girls achieve five or more GCSEs including English and Maths

One third of all exam entries awarded level 7 or above. Nearly 50% of our Year 11 cohort have achieved the English Baccalaureate.

St Anthony’s Girls’ Catholic Academy, which is part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust, is celebrating after a fantastic set of GCSE examination results which are well above the national average.

The provisional 2024 results show that the percentage of Year 11 students achieving a ‘strong pass’ in GCSE English and Maths – grade 5 or above in both subjects – is 62%.  Students achieving a ‘standard pass’ in English and Maths – grade 4 and above in both – is 83%, which is phenomenal.  15% of all grades achieved were at level 8 or 9, and 30% were at level 7 or above, a fantastic achievement.

Ava Fawell has achieved an amazing 10 GCSEs at grade 9 and 1 grade 7 and said “I’m speechless!”

Alyssa Maniquis who achieved 7 GCSEs at grade 9, 3 grade 8’s and a Distinction said, “I don’t really know what to say! I’ve worked for these for 5 years and all the hard work has paid off. I’m looking forward to starting sixth form in September!”

Rojin Rafie  was ecstatic and said she cannot wait to move on to A Levels.  She achieved 7 GCSEs at grade 9, 3 at grade 8 and 1 grade 7.  She said “The time put into GCSEs have been worth it!”

Matilde Gois achieved 8 GCSEs at grade 9, 2 grade 8s and 1 grade 7. She said, “I’m so glad that all my hard work has paid off! I’m looking forward to getting started with my A Levels!”

Della Mitchinson is overwhelmed to have achieved 11 GCSEs at grade 7 or above.  “I’m overwhelmed and can’t believe my results. I’m so relieved and all the hard work has paid off. Thank you for all the support from my teachers!”

Headteacher Mrs Marie Lanaghan said, “We are thrilled with our GCSE results this year.  These grades are the result hard work and determination of our students, and the support and encouragement from our team of dedicated staff.  There have been some outstanding individual results with many students achieving grades 7 – 9 in all subjects. We look forward to seeing our young people progress into a range of exciting opportunities, including our joint St Anthony’s and St Aidan’s Sixth Form.
